SUTTONS BAY FLOATILLA – A GUINNESS WORLD BOOK RECORD CHALLENGE!

This Labor Day Weekend Suttons Bay, Michigan will be hosting an exciting new event. Saturday, September 1, in Suttons Bay, the Guinness World Book record for canoes and kayaks rafted together will be challenged. The world record of 1902 canoes and kayaks was set last fall in a little town in Upstate NY. The new goal is more than 2000 canoes and kayaks! This will be a spectacularly beautiful and unique event! An aerial view of the NY event was featured in the April, 2012 issue of National Geographic magazine.
 
Join this great family friendly paddling event. Local food vendors will be offering a diverse selection of things to eat and drink. Other festivities are planned. Bring your basket and shop the local Farmers Market.
 
You must be registered to participate in the count.
 
1 person canoe or kayak - $10; 2 people in a canoe or kayak - $17
 
Beginning August 15, the cost will be:
1 person canoe or kayak - $15; 2 people in a canoe or kayak - $22
 
Day of the event:
1 person canoe or kayak - $20; 2 people in a canoe or kayak - $27
 
Boat launching assistance will be available at three public launch spots. Early boat drop-off is encouraged. Parking and shuttles are available at no cost at Suttons Bay High School. The official count will take place at 1 pm.
